Travel & Transport

Ferry & cruise ship WiFi that makes the satellite link go further.

Priority where it counts.

At sea the link is the constraint, and everything else is a decision about how to spend it. Purple runs the passenger side over the access points already fitted, POPIA-compliant — the platform 80,000+ venues run on across 90+ countries. Shield strips ads and trackers before they load, so the same satellite carries more of what people actually came for. Paid tiers turn the connection into a line of income rather than a running cost. And the same login can do more — a crew member's access can end the day their contract does, without anyone remembering to switch it off.

The onboard WiFi Purple already proves

Less data over the same link

Shield blocks ads and trackers before they load. Purple's Shield material puts that at roughly 40% less total data and 120+ fewer DNS lookups a page, so the satellite carries more of what passengers actually wanted — and it goes live by pointing DNS, in minutes rather than a refit.

The connection as a revenue line

Paid WiFi sells a premium speed tier over a free capped one, with PayPal and Apple Pay. Purple never touches payment data — Stripe handles the card and Purple keeps only a transaction ID for refunds.

A private network per cabin

iPSK gives each cabin its own key on one network name, so a family's tablets, consoles and casting sticks connect the way they do at home and stay invisible to the cabin next door. It ships with the Engage tier.

One sign-in across the fleet

Unified Accounts carries a passenger's sign-in from one vessel to the next instead of asking again at every gangway — on the vessels running the platform, and with Engage.

Compliant by design

ISO 27001 and ISO 9001 certified, GDPR / CCPA / POPIA-aligned, with a choice of where the data lives — on your own premises, a private cloud, or a fixed set of cloud regions.

And the same login can do more than connect. Step inside for ten seconds.

Purple's global reach

Proven platform, deployed on the ground

Purple runs the guest WiFi for some of the biggest names in retail, banking, hospitality and sport. Beyond's own team deploys it on the hardware you already own, wires it into the systems you already run, and supports it from South Africa — not from a call centre in another timezone. Your ferries run on that team.

What Beyond adds — the art of the possible

What Beyond adds with your crewing and booking systems

The foot passenger

They sign in once on the way aboard and are recognised on the return leg, so the crossing does not start with a form. Beyond can key that welcome to the sailing they actually booked.

The bridge and engineering officer

Ship systems do not belong on the passenger lane. Beyond designs the segmentation so navigation, telemetry and payments never queue behind a film — this is our network design on Purple's platform, not a switch inside it.

The seasonal crew member

Beyond can wire access to the crewing system, so it starts when the contract does and ends the day it closes — including the ones nobody remembers to close.

The onboard retail lead

Beyond can join what the analytics show about dwell to the till system, so the shop opens when the deck fills rather than to a fixed timetable.

The fleet operator

One console across every vessel rather than a spreadsheet per ship — so a question about the fleet is answered once, from the same place, whichever vessel it is about.

What you don't replace

You keep your booking system, your satellite provider, your onboard POS and the access points already fitted. Beyond integrates and segments rather than replacing — no refit, and nothing on the bridge is touched.

Straight answers

Frequently asked

Can we run Paid WiFi and SecurePass together?

Yes — they serve different people and run in parallel. SecurePass ships with the Engage tier. It recognises the passengers who have it, and can carry a premium level of service tied to who they are. A loyalty member, say, or someone who paid for it when they booked. Paid WiFi covers everyone else — the first-time foot passenger, the day tripper, anyone who is not offered a profile or would rather not install one. Beyond sets both up on the vessel.

Does any of this need a refit?

No. It runs on the access points already fitted, and Shield goes live by pointing DNS. The work is configuration and integration, not cabling.

Is this tracking passengers?

No. Nobody is recognised until they sign in and opt in, the record is theirs to see or delete by self-service, and it is POPIA and GDPR governed. A passenger who never signs in stays a device count and nothing more.

Do we have to replace our booking or crewing system?

No. Beyond wires into the systems you already run — that integration is the job.

Who actually built the WiFi part?

Purple, and we would rather say so. Beyond deploys it, integrates it into what you run, and supports it from South Africa.
