Hospitality & Leisure

Quick-service restaurant WiFi that remembers your regulars.

The queue moves at the speed of the till.

Your regular orders the same thing every Tuesday, and every Tuesday the counter asks what they’d like. The thing that could recognise them is already bolted to your ceiling — the access points you already own. Purple is the platform 80,000+ venues run on, in 90+ countries. Beyond has spent years deploying and supporting it inside South African hospitality and retail estates. Tills, kitchen screens and card machines ride their own segmented lane, so a full dining room on guest WiFi never slows a payment. Every store reports into one console, so the estate reads as one thing rather than a hundred separate stories. And the same login can do more — the regular is recognised at the counter before they’ve finished ordering.

What every store gets, over the hardware it already has

On Purple, McDonald’s Belgium runs the guest WiFi across its restaurant estate. Purple’s published figures: 2.5 million people known in two years, four million logins a year, and 90% fewer engineer visits to site.

Payments never share a lane with the guest network

Guest WiFi is segmented from your point-of-sale tills, card machines and kitchen display screens, each on its own network. A customer’s phone and a card transaction never share a lane, however full the dining room gets at noon.

The regular is recognised, not re-asked

SecurePass saves a secure profile to the customer’s phone at the first sign-in, so it rejoins your network on every return. It holds past the device-ID changes newer iPhones make between visits, so a return still reads as a return. A first-timer gets a branded sign-in page instead, and Verify checks the email as it is typed — before it reaches your database. SecurePass comes with the Engage plan; Verify is bundled from Capture up.

Every store on one console

Network health, coverage, speed and live analytics for every site in the estate, in one place. A store with a problem is seen from head office rather than reported by its manager. That is what takes callouts out of the week.

Counter traffic becomes a list you own

Sign-ups flow straight into your CRM as first-party data, and Purple connects to 400+ marketing, loyalty and point-of-sale systems. Footfall, dwell and repeat-visit figures come from the access points already in the ceiling, not from new sensors. That starts at the Capture plan. The sign-in page itself arrives in the language the phone is set to, on any tier. 25+ of them, which matters more here than in most markets.

What it needs from you

Recognition at the counter pays once the login is joined to the systems that serve the customer: your ordering app, your point-of-sale, your loyalty programme. That link is an integration into software you already own, and it is the decision worth making carefully rather than a checkbox. We build it, then wire the same one into every store, so the estate behaves as one thing.

Compliant by design, and provable

ISO 27001 and ISO 9001 certified, and aligned with POPIA — South Africa’s privacy act — as well as GDPR and CCPA. The marketing opt-in is separate from the connection, timestamped and logged against the person and the store. A customer can view or delete their own record themselves, without phoning anyone.

And the same login can do more than connect. Step inside for ten seconds.

Step inside the engine

The ten seconds your guest never notices.

Back in the daylight

Your guest never noticed the tech. Your team never lifted a finger.

Payment traffic on its own lane, every store on one console, and a regular recognised at the counter — over the access points already installed.

Purple's global reach

Proven platform, deployed on the ground

Purple runs the guest WiFi for some of the biggest names in retail, banking, hospitality and sport. Beyond's own team deploys it on the hardware you already own, wires it into the systems you already run, and supports it from South Africa — not from a call centre in another timezone. Your quick-service restaurants run on that team.

80,000+venues on Purple

440Mlogins a year

Built on Purple. We take that foundation and make it yours — the login becomes part of your building.

What Beyond adds — the art of the possible

What Beyond wires into your till and your ordering app

The regular at the counter

The reconnection already proves it is the same person. Beyond can wire that into your point-of-sale and loyalty app, so “the usual?” is on the till screen as they reach it. The reward they have already earned is applied, not asked about.

The kiosk order, the app order and the counter order

Right now those are three anonymous transactions from one person. Beyond can wire the sign-in to your ordering platform so all three land on one record. And the customer who has not installed your app meets it on the way in, while they stand in your restaurant waiting for food.

The drive-thru and the collection bay

Beyond can tie lane and car-park coverage to your ordering app. The order placed on the way is then fired to the kitchen on arrival, not at the window. The payment lane and the kitchen screens keep their own segment through the lunch rush.

The rush that repeats every day

Footfall and dwell, per store, hour by hour. Beyond can wire that into your rostering and stock systems, so the store that fills at 12:10 is crewed for 12:10. The one that fills at half one is not crewed like it.

The crew, shift after shift

Staff sign in with the account the company already issues them — no code taped under the till. Beyond can wire your rota or HR system to that directory. A leaver’s access then ends across every store the moment the rota drops them, not at the next password change.

What you don't replace

You keep your tills, your kitchen display screens, your ordering app and your loyalty programme — and the access points already in the ceiling. The platform runs as an overlay across 40+ hardware vendors, so nothing is ripped out, and the card machine is isolated rather than touched. No forklift upgrade, and no new hardware in a single store.

Straight answers

Frequently asked

Does it keep the card machine PCI-compliant?

Guest WiFi runs on its own segment, away from the tills and the card machines, so customer devices never share a network with payment traffic. That separation is what keeps guest WiFi out of your card-payment scope. We isolate the card machine rather than touching it — how it reaches your bank does not change.

Do we have to replace our tills, kitchen screens or ordering app?

No. Beyond integrates with the systems you already run, and the WiFi runs on the access points already in your ceilings. The card machine is isolated, not touched — there is nothing to rip out and nothing new to install in a store.

Isn’t recognising a regular creepy — are customers tracked?

No. The sign-in is the consent: opt-in, timestamped, and logged against the person and the store. Recognition only starts once someone opts in, and they can view or delete their own record themselves. The platform is ISO 27001 certified and aligned with POPIA, GDPR and CCPA.

We already have WiFi analytics. What is different here?

Analytics tells you what happened last month. This acts on who is in the store now, through the systems you already run — the till, the ordering app, the loyalty programme. A report versus a response.

Are you replacing counter staff with AI?

No. It takes the queue, the guesswork and the admin. The password nobody remembers, the roster of who is on shift, the report nobody has time to build. The person at the counter still serves the person in front of them.

Who actually built the WiFi part?

Purple — the platform running 80,000+ venues in 90+ countries. We chose it deliberately: a card machine and a queue are not where you find out your authentication was home-rolled. Beyond is a Preferred Purple Partner and an authorised distributor in South Africa. We scope it, deploy it, wire it into your point-of-sale and ordering systems, and support it after go-live.

How does it work for drive-thru and collection?

Outdoor and car-park coverage keeps order-taking, kitchen screens and mobile collection online. The payment lane sits on its own segment, so a busy dining room never slows it. What that needs from you is a coverage scope for the lane and the bays — we walk it on site before anything is quoted.
