Travel & Transport

Bus & taxi fleet WiFi that stops the data bill running away.

Every vehicle, online and secure.

On a vehicle, every megabyte is billed to you, so the question is not whether to offer WiFi but what it is allowed to carry. Purple runs the passenger side over the kit already fitted, POPIA-compliant — the platform 80,000+ venues run on across 90+ countries. Shield strips ads and trackers before they load, which is the difference between a bill that grows with ridership and one that does not. Fare and validator traffic sits on its own lane. And the same login can do more — a driver's access can belong to the shift rather than to the vehicle.

The onboard WiFi Purple already proves

A smaller bill for the same journeys

Shield blocks ads and trackers before they download. Purple's Shield material puts that at roughly 40% less total data and 120+ fewer DNS lookups a page — on a fleet billed by the megabyte, that comes straight off the invoice. It deploys by pointing DNS, so no vehicle comes off the road for it.

One sign-in, every vehicle

Unified Accounts carries a passenger's sign-in across the fleet instead of asking again on each boarding — across the vehicles running the platform, with the Engage tier.

Who rides, not how many devices

Location Analytics reads dwell and repeat travel from the access points already fitted, and reads returning passengers honestly once SecurePass recognition sits alongside it — phones hide their identifiers between trips, and a portal alone cannot see past that.

Safe browsing on a public vehicle

Shield filters unsafe sites before they load and forces safe search, on a network shared by school runs and commuters alike. It is licensed from the Capture tier up.

Compliant by design

ISO 27001 and ISO 9001 certified, GDPR / CCPA / POPIA-aligned, with a choice of where the data lives — your own premises, a private cloud, or a fixed set of cloud regions.

And the same login can do more than connect. Step inside for ten seconds.

Purple's global reach

Proven platform, deployed on the ground

Purple runs the guest WiFi for some of the biggest names in retail, banking, hospitality and sport. Beyond's own team deploys it on the hardware you already own, wires it into the systems you already run, and supports it from South Africa — not from a call centre in another timezone. Your buses run on that team.

440Mlogins a year

Built on Purple. We take that foundation and make it yours — the login becomes part of your building.

What Beyond adds — the art of the possible

What Beyond adds with your ticketing and fleet systems

The commuter

Signed in once, recognised on the route they actually ride. Beyond can key the welcome to the line and the direction of travel, so a service change reaches the people it affects rather than everyone.

The driver

Beyond can wire access to the rostering system, so it opens with the shift and closes with it — and a driver who moves vehicles does not carry credentials from the last one.

The fare and payments lead

Validators and card readers belong nowhere near passenger traffic. Beyond designs that segmentation — our network design on Purple's platform, not a setting inside it — so a full bus streaming cannot slow a tap-to-pay.

The depot

Beyond can hold what does not need to travel over mobile data until the vehicle is on depot WiFi, so telemetry and logs sync where the bandwidth is free rather than where it is billed.

The operations manager

A fault reported from the seat it was found in, tied to the vehicle and the run, instead of a call at the end of the shift describing it from memory.

What you don't replace

You keep your ticketing system, your mobile-data contracts, your telematics and the routers already fitted. Beyond integrates and segments rather than replacing — no vehicle comes off the road, and the fare system is not touched.

Straight answers

Frequently asked

Will this actually reduce our data bill?

Purple's Shield material puts it at roughly 40% less data downloaded, by blocking ads and trackers before they load. What that is worth depends on your ridership and your tariff, so we would rather measure one route with you than quote you a saving we cannot stand behind.

Do vehicles have to come off the road for this?

No. It runs on the routers already fitted, and Shield goes live by pointing DNS.

Is this tracking passengers?

No. Nobody is recognised until they sign in and opt in, the record is theirs to view or delete by self-service, and it is POPIA and GDPR governed. Someone who never signs in stays a device count.

Do we have to replace our ticketing or telematics?

No. Beyond wires into what you already run — that integration is the job.

Who actually built the WiFi part?

Purple, and we would rather say so. Beyond deploys it, integrates it and supports it on the ground in South Africa.
